About the Job

Akamai is looking for a Software Engineer to build the next-generation framework for rapid development of video player applications using the Adobe Flash and Microsoft Silverlight technologies. In this role the candidate would have the opportunity to work on a product that would see deployment on Akamai's Global Network. The Akamai Global network spans 1100+ networks in 65+ countries and is one of the largest distributed systems in the world.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain software.
• Bug Fixing & customer support.
• Feature Identification.
• Interact with product management.
• Help in hiring and training new team members

Basic Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science
• Overall Experience: 2-5 years or equivalent experience

Desired Qualifications

• Strong familiarity with Action Script 3 programming - including object orientated coding, events, class/package structures
• Experience with streaming media and flash.
• Knowledge of rtmp protocols, NetConnection and NetStream, displaying and controlling video and audio in flash applications.
• Adobe FLEX and Flex builder experience
• Adobe Flash CS3 IDE experience.
• Good at writing HTML.
• Familiarity with Java Script, JAML & AJAX.
• Knowledge of UI design principles & expertise in developing interactive websites.
• Ability to maintain high Quality standards, be a self learner and have the drive to Innovate.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
